Tired, happy, blessed and craving a peanut butter, chocolate and banana milkshake. I have spent this last week living in Sydney’s inner city, leading a team of young people in urban mission. We spent the week learning about the services that exist in Sydney that reach out to give a hand up to many people. We also came along side some of these services and helped out with whatever needed to be done. This week was filled with laughter, with tears, with challenges, with stories and with hope. I already miss my January STUMP family. I miss living in community. I miss trying to learn American slang and accents. This week was a beautiful mix of learning, of giving and of receiving. Of being broken and of being whole. Take me back, I’ve left my heart in Surry Hills. Hope. Healing. Restoration, x.
“…but i wonder more and more if the first thing shouldn’t be to know people by name, to eat and drink with them, to listen to their stories and tell your own, and to let them know with words, handshakes and hugs that you do not simply like them, but truly love them.” – Henri Nouwen
